Since the launch of the first DAO framework few improvements have been made technologically. The first generation were true protocol DAOs, think Maker, Compound, Lido and have been replaced with trusted offchain signalling organisations. Why? Gas costs and the lack of flexibility. Governance Modularity will be an unlock for the next generation of DAOs, where they don't need to make trusted tradeoffs to achieve their goals.
