We present new BFT consensus designs in the 5f+1 model that achieve sub-second finality without leader bottlenecks. By exploiting richer quorum structures, we enable leaderless one-round finalization, optimistic responsiveness under asynchrony, and clean composition with existing common prefix of the available layer, unlocking qualitatively new trade-offs for Ethereum's finality pipeline.
Current blockchains bottleneck throughput at a single proposer. Sedna introduces rateless-coded multi-proposer dissemination: all validators propose and DA is guaranteed without redundant retransmission. We analyze incentive compatibility under adversarial withholding via a progressive threat model and present PIVOT-K, a bounty mechanism ensuring honest participipation is a dominant strategy.
