ETHPrague 2026

José Pedro Sousa

I'm a full-stack blockchain developer and former Developer Relations Engineer at Aztec, where I worked on ZK application development and contributed to the Noir language ecosystem. Previously at Polygon, I've been designing and integrating zero-knowledge products since 2022. I have an unhealthy obsession with what happens to your private keys when someone shows up in person.

Yeah but your security is not safety: solving the $5 wrench attack problem
José Pedro Sousa

You've implemented end-to-end encryption. Your keys never touch a server. You're using ZK proofs, stealth addresses, maybe even computing over encrypted values on-chain. Your privacy stack is airtight.

Then someone shows up with a $5 wrench.

This attempts to answer a simple question: where does the trust ultimately live, and can someone get there with a wrench?
