From Social Primitives to Trusted Application Layers
2026-05-10 –, Masaryk Stage

Platform trust is no longer a sufficient foundation for internet applications. This talk examines how Lens turns identity, authorship, permissions, and actions into shared user verifiable state, enabling publishing, collaboration, and coordination systems that rely less on any single interface or platform.

As identity, distribution, moderation, and interfaces become less tightly coupled, the key question is no longer which platform users trust, but which state remains portable and verifiable regardless of client. Lens offers one answer by making identity, authorship, permissions, and actions shared user verifiable state rather than properties granted by a single platform.

The talk focuses on the architectural implications of that model. What changes when authorship is durable across interfaces. What changes when permissions and actions are rooted in onchain primitives rather than platform databases. And what becomes possible when publishing, collaboration, and coordination rely less on any single frontend or operator.

I am Head of Product for Lens at Mask and I work across the protocol and product boundary with Orb.club. My motivation for this session is to contribute a perspective from inside the system on why this model matters, how it differs from platform centered architectures, and why it points toward a broader rethinking of trust on the internet.
