The DeFi ecosystem has evolved beyond simple "centralized vs decentralized" narratives. Many protocols genuinely work to minimize trust assumptions, but how do we quantify their success? This talk presents data-driven analysis that answers the fundamental question: how many people can rug you?
The talk presents trustlessness metrics such as permission structures, timelocks, oracles, and dependencies, but also who owns which portion of the TVL (inter-protocol TVL dependencies). I have been researching this topic for a year now, gathering as much data as possible on DeFi protocols. As a researcher at DeFiScan, I have decentralization at heart, and I love to share findings with an audience that knows and values trustlessness.
