Practical challenges of EU laws: from climate to crypto
2026-05-08 –, Grégr Stage

The last two years in the EU are marked by two things: climate and crypto. Both have lately been heavily regulated. I would like to cover the take-aways that we have after the first year of MiCA (EU crypto markets regulation) and after the first year of the new EU parliament. How does crypto and climate go together? What aspects EU supports? And what the EU restricts?

The EU decided to challenge crypto markets and sustainability-related behaviour. In my talk, I would like to briefly cover the history, current status, politics and the future of these two fields. At the first sight, the EU regulates crypto and climate separately. But in reality, they are interrelated. What aspects of crypto are supported by the EU? And which ones are restricted? I would like to combine MiCA (EU crypto regulation) and Taxonomy (EU classification of sustainable activities) and try to find the regulatory line between them.

Hi, I am a curious lawyer and compliance officer based in Prague. My job covers capital markets and EU legislation. I try to explain difficult law easily.
