This talk has a deceptively simple ambition: to answer the question whether Ethereum has a philosophy and if so what is it? The answer will be that Ethereum does have one and that it is Cypherpunk. I will show how Cypherpunk is the ineliminable core of Ethereum’s cultural identity, such that if you removed it Ethereum would no longer be recognisably Ethereum.
