Infrastructure is only as good as what is built on top of it. This talk moves past the L1/L2 hype to analyze the "State of Ethereum Apps" using fresh data from growthepie.com. We will look at real retention, active usage, and sector-specific trends across the ecosystem. I will use charts, our reports and a unified Ethereum Ecosystem lens to look at which Ethereum apps are actually used and why.
For a long time, the conversation in the Ethereum ecosystem has been dominated by "the L2 wars" and technical infrastructure. While that matters, it is the application layer that ultimately brings users and value to the network. At growthepie, we’ve spent the last year building out neutral benchmarks to understand what is actually happening onchain.
My motivation for this talk is to provide a "reality check" for builders and investors. I want to show the community how to look past "vanity metrics" like TVL or simple transaction counts, which are often heavily skewed by airdrop farmers and bots.
What we will cover:
- The transition from L2-centric thinking to App-centric thinking.
- A deep dive into the 2026 "State of Ethereum Apps" report: what the data tells us about DeFi, SocialFi, and Gaming.
- How to measure "Real Value" onchain without getting distracted by the noise.
- Specific case studies of apps that have achieved sustainable growth versus those that were just a flash in the pan.
My goal is to give the EthPrague audience a clear, unbiased view of the ecosystem's health so they can build more effectively. We’ll look at the data, see where the gaps are, and discuss where the next wave of Ethereum users is likely to come from.
I’m a co-founder of growthepie, where we help the community make sense of the Ethereum ecosystem through data. My work is all about the intersection of design and strategy, taking complex metrics and turning them into clear, intuitive insights for builders and researchers. I'm driven by the idea of making Ethereum’s real-world impact visible and easy to understand for everyone.
