Bridge hacks account for the top 5 largest DeFi hacks in crypto- they’re centralized, don’t scale and fragment liquidity. To connect the next 1000 chains we need to move beyond bridges to build decentralized, universally scalable multi-chain networks.
This talk will cover:
- an brief overview of bridges and the history of the early days of bridging up until today
- the issues they present and why they’re such attractive targets for attackers
- an introduction to protocol based interoperability through a network based approach
- an introduction to Axelar’s design (protocols secrurity, DPOS model) and how this address the vulnerabilities and design limitations of bridges
- a brief into to general message passing and why it’s key to route messages not just assets cross chain
- a look ahead to the sort of applications we could build once a universally interoperable landscape exists for developers.
Leading strategic community initiatives at Axelar, formerly the VP of Blockchain Education Network. Building decentralized developer communities since 2013.
