As a researcher at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, we work at the intersection of DeFi and institutional finance, to shape an adequate regulatory future reality. We want to make sure that the innovation that’s being built today leads to a more efficient transformation of global finance. I want to show the next generation of builders how their smart contracts ideas are reshaping the system and why this is a rare moment in history to understand, shape, and scale that impact before the mainstream realizes it has happened.
Carles Cerqueda is a Digital Assets Researcher at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (University of Cambridge), where he bridges blockchain protocols with traditional financial systems. His work helps accelerate the creation and transfer of knowledge that pushes the boundaries of financial innovation and supports evidence-based regulation, in collaboration with over 80 leading financial institutions and 60+ central banks. He holds a Master’s in Quantitative Finance from the French National Polytechnique, previously worked as a Quant in asset management and at a fintech startup now used internationally. A former hackathon finalist, he remains deeply involved in the student ecosystem, representing the Cambridge Blockchain Society and KryptoSphere internationally.
