Brenda Loya

Brenda is the CEO and Co-founder of Tellor, a decentralised oracle network. She is a self-taught solidity developer and formerly, a supervisor with the U.S Federal government, developing and leading teams to develop statistical software and produce Principal Federal Economic Indicators, such as the Producer Price Index, State and Area and National Employment statistics, and Unemployment Insurance statistics, and methodology research. Brenda has a Master of Arts in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University.

What really drew Brenda into crypto was Ethereum. She became obsessed with the technology and the freedom it could bring. As a Statistician/Economist she had been programming for years so the transition to Solidity was smooth. Brenda’s first full-time endeavor in crypto was Daxia, a protocol to do long/short tokens (e.g. long/short BTC) (similar to a dy/dx). The issue you quickly run into with derivatives is the oracle problem (how do you get the price to settle to). The companies then were just inputting it themselves, which is not secure and not in line with the ethos of decentralization. Brenda and her team wanted something better so they started building out Tellor internally. And it turned into a full time thing when other projects/investors became more interested in Tellor than Daxia.

Gunilla Samberg

Gunilla Samberg is a visual artist, living and working in Umeå, Sweden, born 1945.

I work with different media and expressions, always based on a conceptual ideas. Performance, involving other people, acting in collective performance is an effective and interesting way of making art. It is a really a good feeling to share your ideas, to discuss, discover and express important issues with others. I also make installations and painting. I feel free to chose media and material related to the issue I want to give a specific form. I have made several public artworks and I am really interested in the challenge to make strong visual expressions in public space. I am influenced by my background as a scientist and as a teacher.

I want to share my images of my artworks and my ideas to others. I am convinced that the image has a strong influence and effect on peoples minds. You forget verbal messages, you remember images, they effect you for a long time. I am most concerned about our future, resources are wasted, soil, air and water polluted. Everyone is responsible to do something. We must not resign, we can be inspired of others, we can do something. I am also concerned by the lack of women´s rights, young girls and women being abused all over the world.

Laura Fong Prosper (1978) is a visual artist from Panama,́ based in Berlin.
Her exploration orbits the realms of collective memory, retro-futurisms, ancestral imaginaries and eco-feminisms through a fusion of various mediums, including video, analog film, new media, and most recently textiles.
In her process-oriented practice her language becomes a conduit for conversation between the human body, the surrounding territory, historical contexts and narratives of decolonization. This interplay serves as a tapestry, weaving together threads of personal and collective experiences.
In addition to her thematic explorations, she also embarks on a personal research journey as a recycler of materials, archives, and electronic gear, breathing new life into discarded remnants and committing to sustainability and resourcefulness.
Laura Fong Prosper's artistic practice, rooted in her multicultural heritage invites audiences to traverse a landscape where tradition meets innovation, and where the past comes together with the present and the future in a celebration of human expression.
She studied Film Editing in the International School of Film and TV of San Antonio de los Banõ s in Cuba (EICTV) and received a M.F.A. in New Media Art from the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany and a M.A. in Art Theory and Literature from the Tongji University in Shanghai, China. BIO/ARTIST STATEMENT: Margrethe Kolstad Brekke (artist/initiator of the Rjukan Solarpunk Academy)

Utopia as motif, motive, and method

As an art student in the years 2009-2014, the discussion around the Anthropocene
and general knowledge about the climate crisis had established the apocalyptic sublime as a growing rhetorical backdrop in cultural production. In this constant mindscape, I spent most of my years studying. In the textile arts BA program, you could find evidence of apocalypse and colonial-era injustice in every tool, fiber, trade route, and pattern design.
But towards the end of the MA program, I started to get the sense that I had to do
my own artwork a bit differently. That a more interesting, more responsible,- and counterintuitive artistic challenge would be to try and make art about hopes and dreams in times like this. So this is
what Ive been doing since the autumn of 2013. 1st, in Bergen, through all kinds of interdisciplinary collaborations in the years when post-petroleum technologies still came with a sense of the unreal, and the knots- and bolts of real-life green transitions still had a sense of optimistic innocence about it. Since 2019 my perspective has been rooted in the rural rust-belt town Rjukan, where I moved motivated by cheap housing, large abandoned industrial buildings, and among other things the promise in the town’s motto, inspired by the recently installed sunmirrors: ``To make the impossible possible ``. in collaboration with the Sunmirror artist Martin Andersen and Siddharth Sareen (UiS), we established Rjukan Solarpunk Academy (RSA) in 2019. RSA has since then developed into a fruitful hub of science, art, and community development. Inspired by our partnership with the PHD-school ``Empowered Futures`` we piloted the festival concept ``Solarpunk Campus Rjukan`` in 2023. Over the next years, fueled with new creative forces like the traveling writer Daniel Nyiri, and transitioning from ``indiestyle-relational-artproject to a more solid organizational structure- we will work on continued institutionalization of the RSA, and give space for a more diverse interpretation of the term Solarpunk. While RSA will take on a life of its own, I will gradually turn most of my attention back towards traditional studio work, where main topic of my own artistic practice will be the IPPC SSP1-5, so chances are that this will also influence the direction in RSA over the next couple of years.
My role model for this balance of activities has throughout the years been mainly
William Morris, a productive textile artists trying his best to respond to the burning open questions of his own era.

Shaka Lei Kaumaka

ALOHA, you may call me Shaka Lei. I am of Hawaiian, Chinese, Portuguese and Dutch decent and in the present moment I am a nomad based mostly out of my suitcases. Every now and then I am back in the degen cave found in my parents basement where I grew up mostly in the south of Denver. I love following ETH around the Globe and believe we are changing the world. I love sharing music and encouragement at hackathons and recently my frens started calling me an Ethereum Bard.

My Journey with Ethereum started with Devconnect in Amsterdam. 2010 when I was 20 years old for a year I was a missionary in South Africa until the church kicked me out and I got arrested for smoking pot. Then I went back to school and studied music in Hollywood until I got warn out by humans chasing stardom. After dropping out again I started the art of volunteering. First with a kitchen that helped the homeless until I became the kitchen manager. Then I started volunteering with one of my favorite bands called Dispatch until they started taking me on tour with their production crew and a founding member of the band's nonprofit sponsored me to live in Nicaragua teaching music. Then came covid and I became a degen in my parents basement at age 30. Feeling stuck I almost lost my mind so thankfully the universe led me to Ethereum, not online, but to the community of hackers behind it. It was way too late to be an early investor, first time buying ETH was all time highs in 2021 to buy a rugged nft project, that was also before I knew who Vitalik was and what consensus meant. It was however just at the exact right time to start volunteering with Ethereum hackathons around the world. I fell in love with all its possibilities and am now becoming an Ethereum Bard with the right heart to contribute.
